I would never wear sandals. If it's warm enough for sandals, it's warm enough for bare feet.
My toes seem to be able to catch every deck fitting and the last time I about ripped my toenail off on a toe rail I swore to never be on a boat bare footed again! I love Keens because they have a toe guard. I even have hurt my toes wearing Tevas in a stream when my foot slipped on a mossy rock. Come the end of May if I am not at work I am in Keens, even have a pair of Keen shoes for work. I have a "good" pair of Keens and a rough pair for trail use. They seem to never wear out. At first I thought $80 for sandals they must be crazy but I see there value now!
