Don't be surprised if the screws that hold the compass in don't want to come out on your older boat. You need to be prepared to break them and remove the stubs. Edson has a replacement set of ceramic-coated bolts to preclude corrosion in the future.

Recommend you discuss this procedure directly with the Edson folks in New Bedford. Their customer service is super. They may charge a lot for parts, but you usually get what you pay for (and that includes customer support).
