Re: Mexico For Refit?

What a great story about Ti Kanot!

I have been told $50,000 is a good ball park to put my boat back into shape if I have it done by "those in the know". That would include new stancheons around, repair of fiberglass near the deck plate, a hard top bimini, new teak trim roughly 4 inches by 20, new solar panels, maybe a new bottom job. With all of that done, the boat is worth about $100, and I already have $100K in it. I could reduce these numbers by doing the work myself, but I have no experience and some of the work is technical. Supporting the local economy means supporting the local yard, there is only one, at $80 a day haul out, and with a limitation on contractors, the market is fairly limited. Getting to trinidad with no bimini, no solar, no wind vane, and no saftey rail (I would have to do the fiberglass before leaving for safety) is a long haul. Something to think about, though.
