Re: Perkins 4.108M DIY Rebuild -- A Narrative

PorFin,

I am in Martinique on my sailboat and have looked through the various printed manuals that came with the Perkins 4.108.

There is a "Core and option parts book" that may be the one your are looking for !

It is the Perkins engines North America version 4.108 M

It has a "part number" : NAP000265 PB, Issue 1, October 1981.

It has almost 100 pages.

I seems to be exactly the proper one for my Perkins 4.108 M (1989) with one exception : the heat exchanger is slightly different, it is the one you find on the "low line" 4.108 engines. The shop manual that came with it is the 1983 version, which shows the proper engine on the cover (with the Bowman heat exchanger) but does not show anything about the exchanger in it!!

I guess they may never have made a part manual for the public !?

Anyhow, with that "one and only" diagram of the Bowman I posted earlier it is pretty complete.

If that is the manual you are looking for, I can bring it back to Montreal (in about a week) and scan it for you. I know it is a little late, but it is now that I come visit my boat.

Jacques
