Stanley: That's the gist I got from anything I could fine online (which wasn't much). The "T" fitting could be disastrous. Is the only purpose for the current switch, the oil warning light? I would do without that and be happy with just the gauge if it would allow me to do away with any "t" type assembly down there.
My engine runs perfectly and is in great shape. I hate to have a catastrophic failure because of something vibrating loose. It's also not the easiest place to inspect.
