I remember a friend of mine getting caught by his parents smoking weed here back then (late 60's). The Mounties told his parents they shouldn't turn him in.
Our weed situation & laws were never remotely as draconian as the States. Putting people in prison for years or decades for weed is simply insane. Thank God society is slowly smartening up. I'd rather the money go to taxes than the drug gangsters. Saving money wasted on policing, courts & prisons would be good too.
I'd sure prefer that people smoke weed than drink booze - that change alone would cure a lot of societies ills - not too many pot smoking wife beaters that I'm aware of - they're too lazy if nothing else.
