Re: New Shoe Review

I find it interesting to see the radical change shoe designers have made to sport shoes in the last couple of years. Previously sport shoes could be described as rugged, lugged, leather, heavy.... A couple of years ago I got a pair of Vibram five finger shoes. Eventhough I was skeptical about their suitability for sailing and didn't think I would like to go very long without my orthotics, I find them almost the perfect warm weather shoe for sailing. Recently I purchased a pair of New Balance trail running shoes which are also minimalist shoes, just not a lot there, and I love them for pretty much everything.
Wearing these minimalist shoes without my orthotics is making my feet stronger and I believe my balance better. Gone are the days of strapping a heavy non-ergonomic soles to my feet, at least until winter time.
