Their plus is that if you lose one, it is not a big deal, if you break one, oh well, If it gets corroded inside, you can clean them out..
their bad side is a miserable light pattern and output.
There is nothing wrong with having something cheap. But it doesn't even come down to price. Amazon has really bright 200+ lumen AA lights (again, this about twice as bright as an old fashioned 4D Police type Maglight) for $5.
