Great article on installing a new windlass! The only item I would add is to insure that the correct wire size is used since windlass motors are high amps. Unless the battery is mounted forward, as recommend, the wires from the battery to the windlass can be very long causing a significant amount of voltage drop. Most of the marine electrical books have ABYC and/or ISO ampacity and voltage drop tables as do some marine catalogues and there are several applications on the web and some for mobile devices that can be used to correctly size the wire. Also take care to properly support the wire from chafing.
