Just made that trip. We left Friday from Palatka and anchored out at the Buchman Bridge in Orange Park. Saturday we we left at about 8:00am and docked at Comanche Cove in St Augustine around 5:00pm. Saturday we were against the tide and only avg @ 4.5 knots plus we were held up by a freighter being pushed out at Dames Point. Sunday we left St Aug @ 9:00am, made the 9:30 opening at Bridge of Lions. Cresent Beach Bridge opened as hailed. made it to our home port in Flagler Beach @ 4:00pm. Very nice and relaxing trip.
How was going under the San Pablo Bridge? That is the only place I am having concerns. How wide is the channel for going through? God forbid I run aground trying to go through because my 8 HP motor gets pushed by the current too far to either side.
I dont have a big engine like 90% of other boats. I am undersized and under powered so I have to get this right the first time.
I have full membership to towboat US but I dont want to need them.
