Xantrex Link 2000 Troubleshooting

This last weekend an E13 error came up on my Xantrex Link 2000. I looked in the manual and it said “Battery #2 voltage sense leads open”. So I checked the violet wire connections to the start battery (my #2) and replaced the 2A fuse. It was all fine until I turned a small load on and then the E13 error came up again.

I then disconnected the blue wire fuse (battery #1 or house batteries) and as expected E12 came up. Even when I reconnected the blue wire fuse the E12 error continued. It wasn’t until I pulled the fuse on the start battery that E12 was replaced by E13.

So I have replaced both fuses (although the old ones looked OK and the Link 2000 was still showing the voltage from battery #1 and #2). I still have an E12 or E13 error depending on which fuse I last disconnected. I have a Heart Freedom inverter/charger connected to the batteries and the Link 2000 controlling it.

Any ideas as to what to look at next?
