CDI furlers were also available with aluminum foils. I have the foils from one taking up space in my basement. From that photo we can't tell if this one has aluminum or plastic foils.
Halyard wrap is not a big deal, just add a wrap preventer if your halyard angle ends up matching the forestay angle.
I agree that I'd rather have the Furlex than the CDI. I also kind of like hank-on sails though and sometimes wonder why I bothered with the cost, weight, and hassle of roller furling.
