Pretty sure it was a carbon rig as it seemed to bend in the lower thrid first then buckle. I think it was carbon.
The bend in the mast started after the mainsheet severed. so it was the weight of the boom thats done the mast... you can see that in the photo (but you cant really see that the boom is outboard on the starboard side)

Hull is aluminum. thats why its survived so long.
Its still burning now, and aflots. makes me wonder if it happened at sea that the crew shuoldnt stay as close as they can to the hull, wait for it to burn out and get back aboard?!
