1) We departed from Samana.
2) Yes, as per Bruce Van Sant's recommendation. You should read the rationale in his book.
3) As I said, we turned around. We headed back to the DR, going into Luperon actually, before heading to the T&C/Bahamas/Florida.
4) Can't remember, I'm guessing 5-10 miles. Probably would have stopped at Boqueron but if I recall rightly we were going to make up our minds when we got down there.
5) Final destination was Trinidad.

As far as my ex, she probably left from Samana and her destination was probably the USVI, maybe somewhere else. She single handed her old yawl around the Caribbean for years so no telling where she was headed.
