West Marine sells these Taylor Made Corner Guards. Find a source for large, thick electric ties to go around the metal bar and the corner guard to secure the guard to that area. I would put holes in the edges of the guard for the electric ties to pass through so they don't work themselves free, dropping the guard. The uv will eventually eat the ties but they should last a season or two before replacing.
