Not sure if this sort of thing appeals to anyone but I'll through it out there....Moultrie M-880 Mini Cam Game Camera MCG-12594 B&H Photo Video

These are made as game cameras but might be employed for security service. They can be set up to do time lapse, i.e. take a picture once every minute, or with motion sensor. Some will shoot video. Not too expensive and mounted up out of reach (on a mast?) might work. I don't know much about them but it might be something to look into.
There's also a new one, Brinno HDR Pro...
Brinno HDR Time Lapse Camera TLC200 Pro

That's supposed to be pretty good in low light.
These things may not give a good enough picture to ID the thief but you'd have a cool video of him stealing your stuff. :-D
Actually a very good idea. Welcome to Sailnet.com and thanks. I know those come in nightvision setups as well, and they can do video which is motion activated. It will not get your outboard back, but at least you might know who to crack over the head with an oar.

I am looking to see if I have a link that I can actually let you guys see to a little device that has a GPS tracking doohickey in it. It is not too expensive and is small enough to put right inside the cowling.

I will post it in a few if it is available to public viewing.
