Re: outboard crane on a PSC 34

I had a Novalift on my other boat. Worked well, easy to install (on that boat), and was "sleek" since it has the single price attached to the rail. I did modify it and added a fiddle block to give me more advantage lifting my Tohatsu 10 horse. Some friends use on to handle their 2-stroke 15 hp Mercury. They run the line to a nearby winch.

Current boat has a Garhauer. More robust and has a 6 to1 block with built in cam cleat. The Garhauer has a bit more reach than the Novalift. I find the Garhauer easier/safer to use due to the drag of the blocks and the cam cleat. The Admiral is able to hoist with the Garhauer much easier than the Novalift. I normally singlehanded the Garhauer to remove the motor from the dink, not so easy with the Novalift.

I prefer the looks of the Novalift, but the Garhauer is easier to use singlehanded.
