epoxy paint advice, please

Ahoy ,tappers, NO, The problem with any paint or epoxy paint is that the total thickness of the application in very small 1/32 or less and the bond over gelcoat though generally better with epoxy paints does not form a true chemical bond with gelcoat. In any event gelcoat has very little "rienforcement" qualities in itself. Suggest you repair thinned areas but thorough preperation and buildup with gelcoat, the paint. Second think on adding material in areas of repeated high use with non skid or protective sacrifical blocks or patches to take the abuse.(boom chaffing , block damage or sheet rubs). I use from 10mil to 1/4" teflon patches on the devise itself if I can. Hope this helps. Big Red 56the Pirate of Pine Island.
