Re: Nanaimo - Princess Louisa Inlet in early July

Smuggler's Cove was awesome, we anchored there last night. For some reason it only seems to attract motor boats, but we had no problem getting in and out with a 5' draft. I never saw less than 15' under the boat, even at low tide.

We're in Pender now (not very far, but we have time) and really like it here too. We're taking a shore day at Pilot House marina which is quite, simple, and awesome (great showers, free internet, quick dinghy to Maidera).

NorthOceanBeach: I wouldn't worry so much about provisioning before crossing the border. There is a good size grocery store in Pender (at Maidera, two blocks from the dinghy docks) and we were at another 2 days ago in Naniamo. I think there is another in Lund before we get to Desolation Sound proper. We just keep a list going to try and stay well stocked. Ice has also been pretty easy to find so far, though we have enough socked away in case we can't use the cooler anymore.
