Seasprites tend to sit "bow down" as they were originally designed to have a small inboard engine. As I intend on taking this small boat cruising more than a weekend at a time, I was going to double up the battery capacity and move them as far aft as possible. To do this I was going to put a sealed box under the cockpit with a watertight lid to hold the batteries. That is all wasted space on this boat, and just tucking the batteries up there would be a pain for maintance.

That is one of the reasons I was going for a full replacement.. but laying a new deck over the old one has it's advantages too. I will have to think hard about it
