Congratulations on your new boat. I wish you many hours (days, weeks, years) of pleasure aboard.
One thing you might want to keep in mind is my little saying about boating in Alaska;
Anyone who goes out on a boat in Alaska will be spending the majority of their time enjoying their boat in conditions most people wouldn't even leave the dock in.
In Alaska, I've operated passenger carrying charter boats every day, in conditions that would have invalidated the insurance of similar boats operating in any other state in the Union.
Do not be discouraged; it will make you much better sailors more quickly, just as does learning to sail on Frisco Bay; enjoy!
