Full time cruising creates issues with finding a place to hide when you don't know the area very well. And don't know what the locals will be up to. Most haulout yards will be booked up, many have a list you get on way in advance. So that likely won't work.
Good hurricane holes will get filled with many locals, perhaps too many.
Running might work. But last year many ran up the hudson river only to get flood waters from the torrential rain. Irene was worse. If you run in the wrong direction, you've wasted several days for storm prep.
