yes boat prep is important but there are other things you need to do.
first check you insurance and make a pdf of it along with the boat title. I also recommend pictures. exterior and interior and dingy especially if you are on the hook and or a mooring.
if you do not have insurance and you a live aboard (51% of the time} and if your boat gets damaged during a declared disaster FEMA will help with repairs.
you will have to call FEMA (•Phone: (800) 621-FEMA (3362). and they will not pay for new motors or sails only what need to live on your boat but FEMA will help with your repairs.
they will need id and boat info and proof you live on it which can me kept on a water proof flash drive.
