Re: Depression: cabin floor and me

Hi All,
This issue has been discussed before on this forum.I posted several yrs ago about having repaired mine with a S/S pipe 3" diam. with a jackscrew from a house jackpost at the top and a s/s saddle over the stub of the old compression post.Another factor to consider is where did the water come from that rotted the comp.post? In the older boats like mine the mast shoe on the deck had a flush hole thru which the mast wiring passed and rain water entered. On later boats LaFiel included a raised nipple that kept water from entering.So-after fixing the comp post you should replace the mast shoe on the cabin top with a newer type from LaFiel.
Good luck--its fixable.
