Re: New Puget Sound Sailor needs jib advice
Is this your boat Adam?
We took that off of Texana Island in early/mid July. There are a million Catalina 27s out there, but fewer that run big nylon genoas.
The 150+ genoa that I've sailed with is on the Catalina 25 that I crew on. It's a huge sail, but not nylon and we still get shape out of it in light airs. We just need to sit on the leeward side to force shape into it. It's a huge sail and deck sweeper (so no visibility under it), so it mostly gets used on light air days in reduced traffic. This is a photo of it flying almost loose at the dock:
For general purpose cruising and light racing the 135 on my Pearson works pretty well.
boats that I sail on regularly: Pearson 28-2, Rondar 505, Yankee 30, Blanchard Junior
