The metal toe rail came with the boat, and I believe, knowing the previous owner, it was original. There is an identical 33 O.I. in Havre de Grace that also has a metal tie rail, so it may be an option that Morgan offered back then.

I only ran aground a couple times on the way south and each time it was on hard sand during an ebb tide. Thank goodness for Towboat U.S.. Those guys are really incredible and the price of the unlimited towing insurance is well worth the expense. We also ran aground on the way home, but that was due in part to a scuzbucket park ranger that gave us some bad advice on where to anchor for the evening.
