The best thing to do for someone just getting into sailboats to live on, is to buy one about 30 to 35 foot well below your price range, try it out, figure out what you like what you don't like, and what you really want in your next boat. Then in 3-5 years buy what you really want (not what others tell you that you should want)
You will find that everyone has a different opinion on what to buy. Spend the time on your new boat learning the differences between coastal & blue water boats, boats that pound & those that are comfortable in a seaway, faster is not always better nor is slow & stable always safer. Take your time & enjoy the process and don't cheat yourself of the experience.
