Dave, welcome!! I'm glad to find another Allmand owner on here!!!!

I used water, oxyclean, and a scrub brush on my old boat's sails. What I learned is that the scrub brushes can loosen the thread if it's been UV damaged. So, it's kind of a win/loss thing. I found a lot of places that needed to be restitched, but my sail was better for it.

On our new-to-us Allmand 31, I knew the Jib was dirty and it also needed to be resewn in places. I used North Sails in Annapolis because my sewing machine couldn't handle the foam luff for the restitching. They cleaned and fixed everything for about $400. The jib looks great, and we just finished a 200+ mile ride during which we motorsailed mostly with the jib up (we had a lot of downwind running) and the jib stress-tested just fine.
