Had my scariest experience on a boat there. Sailing my Hobie 16 thru
in screaming wind the smooth topped rollers suddenly steepened up and started breaking! We were tubed by two. later offical reports put the breakers at 12 ft. Scary!!!!
Our best guess was the tide change had reached critical mass putting the opposing current againt the incoming wind blown rollers.
That was before the inlet was rebuilt. Still dangerous today, but a tamed puppy compared to 20 plus years ago.
