When their adjuster came and looked at the boat he said it would not be much and asked me what I thought the boat was worth, I told him look at all the equipment I and upgrades I made in the 20 plus years I owned it so I wasn't going to give him a number. He told me to get estimates and get back to him so I did. 3 estimates from boat yards cheapest at 18000. He said the boat was worth 8000 because it had an outboard on a bracket for power. I told him sometimes cruising boats store dingy motors on the stern and come check out the 18 horse diesel that runs fine. Then showed him receipts for 10000 worth of gear I had for everything I did. Then I talked to lawyers who said I should have said I was hurt and all I would get is market value. They dragged this out over a year so when they offered 11000 I took it. Now we are selling our town home and my wife wants to cruise so I am getting a bigger boat but will miss the Westerly.
