before i raise anchor i check to see that i have made my jib sheets free of everything on deck, and that i have made figure 8 knots in the lines just a little over one foot from the end so if it tried to go overboard it doesnt reach prop.....

all sheets and all halyards on my boat have a figure 8 just a foot from end. i dont lose em and if i do, i can grab end before gone.

oh yes and my jib sheets are just a tad too short to reach prop....
