Sure, I have a serrated cutter, myself... If you already have the space between the strut and the prop for one, a split version can be installed without hauling the boat. If you don't have the space for one, however, chances are you'll need a new, longer shaft...

A length of spectra run between the trailing edge of the keel and the bottom of the rudder can help, as well - I usually rig one before heading up to Maine...
