Brand New and Seeking Guidance

Hello everyone slash anyone,

I am new, rather seeking to become a novice, to the sailing/live aboard lifestyle and I would like any guidance on purchasing a boat to live aboard and learn to sail. (Whew, run-on sentences)

I'm single, in the military currently stationed the San Diego area and within the year I will be changing ports to Hawaii. If at all possible, I would much rather buy a boat in the So Cal area and then transport the vessel over to Hawaii because, from what I can tell so far, boats are ridiculously more expensive in Hawaii.

if there is any advice on 'first timer' boats that can comfortably sleep approx 3-4 or wisdom to be had on transporting a sailboat whilst in the military are welcome.

Thank you!
