Re: Brand New and Seeking Guidance

I am not a sailor, I don't own a boat, I am a tech.
Distilled observation from reading many posts. Buy a starter boat 25 to 28 ft.
and sail so much that your emergency notification is a call sign and a frequency.
Sell the boat when you PCS and buy another in Hawaii.
Some people sail to Hawaii and chicken out on extended crusing, don't buy one that has been beat to death or been siting in the rain and heat for a long time.
I would want to buy a boat and sail it all over, take leave to PCS and sail to Hawaii.
Uncle can get rather pissed if you don't sign in on time.

Zen is a matter of recognizing reality.
