Reptiles, bugs and boats and florida?

Other than BigRed, you have little to worry about. Gators won''t bother you unless you go out and look for trouble. Spiders like boats, but most of them aren''t poisonous, and the few that are poisonous are less likely to be seen than ckickens with lips. There are only a couple of poisonous spiders in the state and I have never worried about them. Shucks, if you see a spider...kill it.

Mosquitoes are the worst thing you will deal with hereabouts. That and no-see-ums. Not much can be done about them other than wearing repellent..... Snakes, not too much to worry about. I''m a lifelong resident of FL and I''ve not seen many snakes....and I used to fish on primitive rivers and wander all over the place.

The guy that told you the story was probably telling a "bs" story or fairy tale he heard third or fourth hand.

Actually, most northern states have more dangerous critters than Florida does.
