Am I right in assuming the tangs will need to be removed for inspection? If so, then I may as well hang it up for the season, and the boat has only been in the water for six months.
Then replace the damaged shroud (or the pair)
You can inspect with the mast up - but it's easier done with the mast down.
You should consider replacing the rest of the standing rigging in a not to distant future.
