I understand your point about the tangs. I have one wire that is frayed above the turnbuckle, and would like to replace it. I do not feel comfortable sailing in moderate winds with this one frayed shroud.
Am I right in assuming the tangs will need to be removed for inspection? If so, then I may as well hang it up for the season, and the boat has only been in the water for six months.
Then replace the damaged shroud (or the pair)
You can inspect with the mast up - but it's easier done with the mast down.
You should consider replacing the rest of the standing rigging in a not to distant future.
