I used to have a 25 hp Mercury Outboard (I recently downgraded to a 2.5 HP). I finally decided that if I didn't get some kind of hoist, me and or it, was going into the drink one day for sure, as I struggled to move it from dinghy to stern railing, or vice versa, with my wife saying "You're going to drop it. Watch out. You're going to drop it. Watch out." the entire time.

I finally picked up a St. Croix hoist and mounted it to the transom. What's cool about it is you can easily remove it and store it below when not in use. My back still thanks me for this.
