Lowrance has several similar models. in some ways better more cost effective but I have had both and like the buttons below the screen on the Lowrance. also in the BW models they are easier to read for some things on screen like tracks and route. Some of the larger models are easy to take with you too..For learning to navigate without electronics check out the US Power squadron Piloting and other courses: USPS.org.
