Most furling headsails have a foam or rope luff to help them maintain their shape when furled partially. Other than that, there should be any reason why it wouldn't work for you. They make an adapter that allows you to hank on wire-luff, roller-furling sails, which would probably be much cheaper than having a sailmaker modify the sail.

They were written up last year in one of the gear reviews... but I don't remember what they're called.
