Sure it can work, but just as likely not. Call around to local boat movers. This is unlikely to be there busy season, or soon won't be. And that is not a joke, those guys work through UShip. If you go with UShip make sure to use someone with very good recommendations, and not someone with one or two. If it is not far, why not just rent a U-hull and move it yourself. I think you might have issues with someone using your trailer, as they don't know the condition.

Make sure they have insurance and that it covers your trailer and not just there own. Then it really depends on how much the boat is worth to you. Is it worth taking a risk to save a few bucks, then go for it. So for a free boat on a REALLY good trailer I might try it. For something I paid some money for, no way.
