OP. I would suggest that you focus on addressing issues with your current boat. When everything is working well, it is likely that others will ask you how you did it, and then you'll get the opportunity to gain more experience.
If you are working on a specific project, post it here, and you'll get LOADS of advice. Some of the advice may even be good.
You can also troll SailNet to find people that are working on a problem, and asking for advice. This is a great time to try and wrap your head around someone else's problem, devise a solution, and see if the OP adopts it...
