Ian...I don't think you're on the same track on this one. Must be a language/cultural thing. Let me try to explain from my perspective.
First NO ONE is assigning any more blame to the woman than the man. Obviously they are both to blame but often in America...the guy splits and the woman is left holding the bag for the bad decision she and the guy made and another kid is at risk. In my opinion this is one of the biggest tragedies in our black communities today...the disintegration of the two parent family unit. It effectively sentences future generations to continued poverty. We ain't doing a whole lot better in our white neighborhoods either but the combination of poverty, lack of parenting and resulting dependency on government handouts creates a never ending cycle.
So...THAT is why single moms are such a big deal to me...because of the destruction of the family unit that they represent and the results to society. I'm just as mad at the guys who hit and run leaving the rest of us holding the bag.

The worst part is the system really does encourage enforced poverty, as many of these women will have multiple children in order to get more money from the system. This leads to large families, with very little in the way of resources, and often neglect or abuse.

SAILAWAY....I don't envy anyone nor am I jealous of the $$ they make when they can earn it by dint of hard work or special talents. What I am saying is that it makes me MAD AS HELL when guys that have no more talent than me (believe me I dealt with F500 CEO's!) amass billions for themselves and thier fellow officers and interlocking board members...not from making great decisions or better products or gains in market share...but from stripping out the heart of their companies...abandoning any and all social responsibility in the name of "shareholder gains"...which really means THEIR gains over the short term. What makes a fortune 500 CEO worth 50-60 times the average worker Europe and less in Japan and ours 500 times higher. It is obscene and immoral and serves to fan the fires of class hatred while destroying the lives of working men and women.
Rant over!

There is definitely something wrong when CEOs make so much more money than the workers on the line so to speak. Especially, given the stock options and other forms of compensation they get. What really makes it obscene and immoral, is that they get paid in most cases without any regard for their performance. If they cause the company to go bankrupt or lose millions in revenue.... they still make the big chunk of change.
I also think that there is something wrong when the professions that help and contribute to foundations of society, like child care workers and teachers, are often the worst compensated.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
