Good old RigRite.
I didn't find anything that looked like it would fit my mast on their website. It's possible my mast is not the stock S2 mast... it's teardrop, and measures 5 1/2 x 3 1/2. The long side of the gooseneck plate measures 3 inches. The S2 "letter" cautions that matching spar parts for 1979-and-earlier boats can be impossible.

Paul Marx, who has a 7.3 in Oxnard, described his fittings to me, and they sounded smaller.

I looked at the standard Dwyer fittings, one was too little, the other too big. After talking to some folks, I decided to take the old plate to a machine shop and have new ... tangs? wings? pokey-out doo-dads?... welded on, and have them make a new square pin for the boom fitting.
Cost was about a wash with buying and modifying the Dwyer part... and the shop willl make the "tangs" thicker and more sturdy... and I don't have to put more holes in the mast.

So... the Monday Morning Quarterback question now is: Did I screw up? Is there actually a RigRite part I was too blind to locate?

And... to add to the mystery... the mast shows no signs of ever being re-drilled to mount the gooseneck plate... but the boom has a second set of empty rivet holes. Go figure.

Regards,
Alex
