Well, I tried the paper test on the oil, it looked pretty much like number 2 on this diagram, oily coloured blob with a very slight clear edge which would indicate a lack of diesel in the oil.



All very odd, I checked the oil level again and it was where I left it Sunday, about 1/4" below max (looks like had I only taken out about 200ml then it would have been bang on max). Don't know, maybe I had a bit too much oil in there (but not by much) and it just misted that up to the intake which eventually hit the sweet spot for self accelerating behaviour.
Oh well, I think I'll just keep an eye on things and see how it goes.
