Unlikely that you will be able to show radar picture on a laptop or on a new MFD.

I was under the impression that we where talking about "modern" radars.

Most new radars use Ethernet to connect the radar "antenna" to the display, that is the reason that some of these can show data on PC's with Open CPN.

In modern radars all the picture processing take place in the "antenna", the MFD is only a display and control unit.

The Raymarine Pathfinder RL80C is already previous generation.
This unit does the processing in the display unit.

If you want to go for AIS there are several options
AIS receiver (go for a two channel), you can get VHF radio with built in AIS receiver (two channel is important here also)
AIS class B transponder (also two channel listening here)

By to channel I mean a receiver that will receive on both channels at the same time.

For display there are also a some options
- MFD that can display AIS data
- PC with suitable software
- Dedicated display unit
Or combinations of the above
