Re: Islander 32 Mkii

I don't have it any more (sold it to a friend) but I used to have a 1977 32 Islander Mark II. Mine had the four foot draft.

It's a great sailor and a really stiff boat. It has one of the neatest looking salons you will ever see on a 32 foot boat and we loved the hide away table.

I routinely got it over 8 knots under per GPS on numerous occasions. It was a well balanced rig, too. A couple of times I would be really whizzing along, and try to steer over a few degrees and find out I had completely overpowered the rudder and it wasn't really doing anything.

If I had to do it over again, I would have kept it. But, it had a worn out Atomic 4 in it, and I just didn't feel like going through a re-power at the time.

On the northern Gulf of Mexico.
