Last two boats have put on gimbals just above storm jib set up. Found on prior boats with the relatively narrow beam width of enclosed dome radars heel does make a difference. With small boats to windward if beam doesn't hit them you don't see them. Also regardless of that the higher the dome the bigger the circle around your boat where you don't gets hits but the farther out you can see. I'm mostly worried about ships and use the thing to help navigate so want to see shore contours. Like it reasonably high up. Also like to see weather before it comes to me. Others may want it lower if concern is nearby 18' center consoles which have a poor return.
