There's a family in my marina that run around the harbor in their 9 footer with what looks like an older Minn Kota (boxy white control box on top, short tiller), and it moves them around just fine. Two adults and a two children. I've got a 36 for my yak that I'm going to try on my dinghy some time, just for the halibut, but that thing is a bigger hypalon, weighs a ton (well, over 100 pounds...). The 30 pounders run for quite a long time on a group 24, which are about 40 pounds.

While I'm writing, I'd like to find a true deep cycle battery in the 40-50 amp hour range to save weight on the yak. Anybody know of any?
