Consider this: Boating is any form of craft that can carry a person(s) on the water from point A to Point B. That can be by motor boat, canoe, sea kayak, and by sailboat. As the name implies, motor boat (powerboat) uses an engine to propel the boat. Whereas, a sailboat will primarily depend on the use of sails to use the wind as its means of propulsion. Sailboats of the larger variety will also have an alternate means of propulsion, and that is a motor, ie: outboard, or inboard. This motor is generally used for getting in and out of the marina and for those times where there is no wind. That is the gist of it. Powerboaters like the speed of being able to get to their destinations quickly. Where sailboaters like the challenges that come from getting to your destinations under wind power alone. It is not fast but "You will never have so much fun going slow in your life"
