Having owned a Grampian and worked on quite a few, I don't know where where people get the idea that Grampian built solid boats. They were pretty shoddily built for a low price and most of the later (post C&C)designs were compromised for price and headroom over sailing ability. They were the Canadian equivillent of a Hunter of their day only not so well built and in the case of the later Grampians, not so well designed as the Hunters.
